Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Ten individuals whose livelihoods were affected by the pandemic had the biggest supply run of their lives – literally – as AllDay Supermarket gave them two minutes to grab items from their stores.

A positive twist on AllDay’s “National Hakot Day Challenge,” the heart-stopping event also tugged heartstrings when people found out that displaced workers due to the pandemic would have the whole supermarket for themselves – albeit within a time limit.

The chosen recipients of the challenge were displaced spa worker Ramon Chuatico at the Libis branch, jeepney driver Manuel Reneva at the Shaw branch, laundress Mercy Aristol at the Taguig branch, maid Maria Luna Galdo at the Global South branch, displaced waiter Carlito Consul at the Somo branch, Jr., former street sweeper Gina Bonion at the Alabang branch, Alternative Learning System (ALS) student Rayson Diaz at the Evia branch, manicurist-turned-Sampaguita vendor Salvacion Abanilla at the Las Piñas branch, and over at the Nomo branch, Roanne Hernandez, a casino operator before the company had to stop its operations due to the lockdown.

“Katulad noong unang pandemic, talagang hirap na hirap ho kami. Biro ninyo walong buwan, wala kaming income,” shared Reneva, a senior citizen who had to park his jeepney driver during the first year of the pandemic. This was a big blow to his family especially because he was the one paying for his wife’s medication for liver disease.

Salamat po!” he thanked AllDay Supermarket – Shaw Branch as he boarded a jeepney to bring his groceries to his home.

Over at All Day Supermarket – Libis branch, displaced spa worker Ramon Chuatico was also grateful for getting the chance to participate in this all-new, all-different “National Hakot Day Challenge.” “Tamang-tama po, magagamit ko po ngayong pandemic lalo pa at nawalan ako ng trabaho,” he said. “Kaya malaking bagay po ito.
